Great food – same location!
By David Udoff
South Florida Sun-Times
Finding the right Italian restaurant takes some effort but once you discover Frankie’s 124, it’s the ultimate dining experience. This upscale casual restaurant features their distinguished adaptation of gourmet Italian Cuisine. The new menu offers extraordinary variety and selection.
Brothers Frank and Dominick Perrone, who started the original restaurant, handed the reins and time-honored recipes over to their sons, Louis and Peter. Formerly known as Frankie’s Pier 5, they decided to change the restaurant’s name to Frankie’s 124. “Our fathers have given us an incredible opportunity and we want to make good on their generosity.” This established restaurant has a rich history and has been in the Hallandale Beach /Hollywood area since 1971 serving all those who enjoy fine Italian food. Luis and Peter in keeping up the fine culinary tradition are adding their own imaginative twist to the menu. They have also freshened and changed the décor and makes for a very comfortable place in which to dine.
Louis Perrone said, “We are staying with some of the classic Italian dishes. The pasta dishes are made with distinctive sauces and the freshest herbs available. A new touch added to the menu is the whole-wheat pasta dish tossed in sautéed onions, garlic, zucchini, hints of tomatoes, wilted arugula, with chopped fresh mozzarella in a white wine reduction. Enjoy!
Frankie’s 124 signature dishes are unequaled when you want that special evening out. Guests are treated to elegant service, white tablecloths, fine wines, relaxing cool atmosphere, while enjoying delightful music from the piano bar.
The uniformed, knowledgeable and courteous wait staff treat the guests as family. They can make recommendations from the extensive menu and offer their expertise on the fine wine selections from the full bar.
If an item is not on the new menu, you can still order it. Our guests only have to ask… and our chef will prepare any dish desired. Our regular guests love the Veal Francese or Chicken Marsala. Although not new but new to our menu is the Peppers & Salsicci; Red bell peppers, sweet Italian sausage sautéed with garlic, onions, deglazed white wine with a hint of tomato. You’ve got to try the Prime Delmonico Steak; aged USDA Prime Ribeye 18 oz grilled on an open flame is the finest in town.
Peter Perrone, who coordinates with the kitchen staff said, “Every day I pick the freshest poultry, fish, meats and vegetables from the markets. I look for only the highest quality food items in the preparation of our culinary dishes.
Growing up in a family-owned restaurant has its advantages. We’ve been together with the employees in the kitchen for more than twenty-five years.”
The restaurant offers A Sunset Menu from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Classic savory dishes as Manicotti, Lasagna, Linguine Clam Sauce, Eggplant Parmigana and Ravioli Bolognese are exceptional values. In addition, they offer Veal Francese, Veal Parmigana, Grilled Salmon and Shrimp Francese.  All dishes from the Sunset menu include a fresh garden salad, side of homemade pasta; choice of three desserts and beverage.
After 6:30, choose from an exciting à la carte menu with healthy side dishes.
Louis said, “The dining experience at Frankie’s 124 is chic casual. We are offering high quality service, excellent food and ambiance at affordable prices.  To entice new guests, we’ve lowered prices on many of the classic Italian dishes.” The spacious dining room can seat from 15 to 100 guests.
Louis will be overseeing the restaurant operations and making sure every guest is well taken care of and is satisfied with their food. The elders, Frankie and Dominick, will be dropping by every now and then to make sure the restaurant they started continues to run smoothly. Louis and Peter stand by the family name and their reputation in the established tradition of serving excellent Italian food.
